Meet the Masters

Sandra K McGinty

Sandra K. Rea, Master of Marketing & PR

An artistic wordsmith with more than 20 years of experience as a copywriter, editor, marketing specialist and public relations representative, Master Marketing's owner, Sandra K. Rea, can bring a lot of creativity and color to your next marketing piece or full creative campaign. Writing for a variety of industries – from baby and pet products to medical, business, finance, B-to-B, special education and all points in between – Rea has learned that each industry and business has its own special language and standards of operation. And she understands the nuances of business compliance issues.

Developing her interview skills over the past two decades has landed Rea some interesting article assignments in various national trade and consumer publications. These same skills help her to dig out the most illuminating information during initial client consultations, which makes the concepting and writing process smoother and speeds turnaround time on every project.

Rea earned a B.A. in English with a writing option from California State University, Long Beach, and completed several professional marketing and advertising courses, before going on to teach advertising copywriting at the university level. She enjoys passing on her knowledge. Whether you are an aspiring copywriter or a professional in the business world, Rea can teach you a thing or two about marketing.

"I see business owners frequently who think they need a lot of costly marketing to help them reach their goals, or they spend a lot of money on the wrong advertising," says Rea. "They may have been sold a bill of goods by an ad agency's account representative or they may have just developed these ideas on their own. The sad part is that sometimes they spend a lot in time, aggravation and money just to find out they were wrong or that they are going in the wrong direction. The truth is that good marketing doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. For small- to medium-sized businesses, budget is a major consideration. Business owners need to know that good marketing can cost a lot less than they think. All it takes is the right planning and direction. And that's where I come in."

Dori Dixon

Dori Dixon, Graphic Designer & Illustrator

With a B.A. in Fine Arts from California State University in Fullerton, Dori’s primary focus is graphic design and illustration. She attended additional classes at the University of California in Santa Barbara and Orange Coast College. A professional freelance graphic artist, Dori offers large and small agency experience. Dori says she can’t think of a better career choice than being a graphic artist. And it must have been the right one, because she stays busy!

Among her artistic credits, Dori has done design work for several magazines, both as a full-time artist and offsite ad builder. She also designed books for children and spent more than four years working for a niche-advertising agency that specialized in helping business owners boost their bottom line. Dori says that working in a large, fastpaced ad agency gave her solid training in the intricacies of marketing. Now, as a successful, self-employed graphic designer, Dori collaborates with other marketing and design professionals to offer masterful materials at affordable prices. She sums up her feelings about her work with this: “There is nothing more inspiring than to see my work hanging on display at a local store or to open my mail and see something that I designed!”

Tim Richards

Tim Richards, Graphic & Web Designer

Tim says he’s been interested in art his entire life. Graduating from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a BFA in Fine Art and Graphic Design, Tim was anxious to get to work. Just after graduation, he received a job offer in Southern California, which he accepted. It was a smart move, because it paid for his move to the area and he gained a great deal of experience in producing effective marketing and advertising pieces. He stayed with the company as graphic designer for almost two years before moving to a larger agency, where he added even more skills to his palate of “agency” expertise. Tim’s portfolio includes graphic design for print (brochures, annual reports, logos and direct mail) and the Web. He says his interest in new media and technology is very strong and that he plans to design a lot more Web sites.
